Welcome! Make yourself comfortable.

In January 2021, I resigned from my stable job with the federal government after almost 21 years of service. Months before, several people close to me were diagnosed with serious cancers. Life-threatening, scary cancers. Months before that, my Dad was in a very serious accident in which he wasn’t able to walk for more than a year. I kept thinking if it could happen to them, it could happen to me and I’ve got to make the most of my life! The whole world was recovering from the trauma of the pandemic and I had two kids who needed me. It was time for a change.

I’ve been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2003 and I’m so grateful to the Veteran’s Health Administration for giving me the opportunity to serve Veterans and their families since 2001. During my years at the VA, I worked with several diverse populations of individuals such as transplant patients, home-based care, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans, acute medicine, intensive care and administration of a hospital-wide privacy program. I even worked in long-term care (nursing homes) after obtaining my bachelor’s degree in social work in 1997.

So – long story short – I’m “seasoned.” I started this business in 2023 with the intention of getting back to my social work “roots” and helping individuals live more fulfilling lives. I’m open, non-judgmental, honest to a fault. I love working with individuals who are in the midst of a life transition, adjusting to a new medical diagnosis, or just in need of short-term, brief therapy to get back on track. I am licensed in North Carolina and Virginia.

In October 2023, we adopted “Tyler,” a Golden Doodle who I am hoping will eventually come to work with me as a therapy dog.

I am a native North Carolinian (go Duke!) and currently live in Richmond, Virginia with my husband, Bernard, and two rowdy kids. I love plants, camping, nature, hiking, sewing and driving my kids to and from their after school activities.

I’m always happy outdoors – and Tyler, below, is happy pretty much everywhere.

It’s never too late to live your best life.
